“Own the part. If you don’t own the part you’ll never get it!” – 3 Golden Rules from ROS HUBBARD

Speaking to SPOTLIGHT at the Galway Film Fleadh, renowned casting director ROS HUBBARD  (The Mummy, Enemy at the Gates, and many more) had these words of advice about audition technique, self-taping, and knowing your lines.

1 – OWN THE PART – It’s your part. You should be doing it. That’s who you are. Don’t do it as an actor doing a part do it as – THIS IS ME.

2 – SELF-TAPING – Keep a clear background. Own the part. Get another actor to read, don’t read in for yourself. Face the person you’re reading with. Be real.

3 – ALWAYS BE OFF BOOK – Even if you lose a few lines, think it through, LISTEN to the lines you’re being fed with and you will hear the line that’s meant to come back… it’ll come to you.

THESE ARE ESSENTIAL.
