ANDY SERKIS reveals his method behind playing an ape. WOW!

Since his groundbreaking work as Gollum in Lord Of The Rings, ANDY SERKIS has become the go-to actor for Motion Capture projects.

A master of physicality and vocal transformation SERKIS revealed to the New York Times his method when delivering the basis for CGI character Caesar in the latest of the Planet Of The Apes franchise.

Vocally we wanted him to sound non-human. It involved slowing the speech down and allowing more time between the connection of thought and voice.

I also wanted Ceasar to have a very low centre of gravity so I wore extremely heavy weights on my ankles and wrists so that there was always this physical tension.

The master transformer.
